What is in the power behind a look?
Ever had someone look at you--whether it was out of pure love or some other less desirable emotion---and it just stopped you in your tracks? The mind stops and you feel you're caught in that proverbial "timeless moment." In a "negative" sense my 2nd grade speech teacher looked at me in such a disapproving nasty way i can still feel the affects of it if I think about it 2day. On a "positive" note, a girl I was seeing who I was very close to looked at me with such love and compassion it felt as if I was literally melting. I've never been the same since experiencing that latter example. Some kind of protective armor or shell I was uselessly carrying around melted. What is the weird and strange power behind a simple look?
Oh, a look can be powerful indeed!! You know the old saying, "if looks could kill", well, I've certainly been on the recieving end of a few of those looks in my life, lol. I'm sure that I've given a few of those looks as well, but not very often. I think our expressions can without a doubt, speak volumes! As i've stated in previous answers, I am someone that can't hide my emotions, at all. Therefore, I find it impossible to keep my emotions unknown to those you really know me. If I am upset about something, it shows...if I am huring...that shows...and if I am wanting to tell the person closest to me, that I love him, I can also do that with one look. They are able to see very easily from looking at my face, exactly how, or what, I'm feeling! I think a person's eyes alone can tell so many things!
I certainly try to forget the "negative" looks that I've gotten over the years, but will always remember with pleasure and fondness, the wonderful looks of encouragement, happiness, and love that I've recieved.
