Trim Tabs
Can I tune a older Stingray hydrofoil (white) on outboard 50 Mercury for less nose dive at higher speed?
Although I should measure the wings of this hydrofoil I would like it if it was tuned to allow full throttle when planned out. The boat is small only about ten feet and if I go more then say 27 mph it will throw the nose in enough to cause quite a splash into my face. Now I am getting about half throttle. As far aS SPEED OR TIME TO PLAIN that is just fine sorry about the caps. It plains out quick enough and although it may need the trim tabs or steering tabs installed I doubt I could find these today.
The only thing that I can think of, would be to get some longer screws and mount the foil on top of the trim plate instead of the way it's mounted now. This will get it about an inch out of the water once you are on a plane. The downside is that you will loose the effect of the foil if it was keeping the boat from porpoising before. Moving some weight forward will compensate for that. Try it. All it will cost you is the price of four 2" Stainless Steel bolts. It will look weird, but that is the only way I can think of tweaking it.
